Price versus probabilityIllustrative · your estimate

What does your estimate imply?

The price is one input. Your probability is the other.

Break even at50.0%Your estimate55.0%
Modeled expected profit
per $100.00 staked · before costs
+$10.00

Your estimate clears the break even threshold before costs.

Your probability is unverified. Assumes a binary win or loss at the entered odds. Excludes fees, spreads, and execution costs. Expected value is an average, not a guaranteed outcome.

What is available

The expected value calculator is available free with your own inputs. This page does not offer a live +EV scanner, verified probability model, or automated picks.

From question to decision

Make the assumptions visible.

01

Translate odds into a threshold.

The price tells you the win probability needed to break even before costs. A +100 price requires a 50% win rate; it does not establish the real chance of winning.

Start with implied probability, then account for fees and the evidence behind your own estimate.

02

See what your estimate implies.

At +100, a 55% estimate produces $10 of modeled expected profit per $100 staked. Change the estimate to 45% and the modeled value becomes negative.

Expected value is a weighted average over possible outcomes, not a prediction of the next result.

03

Test the assumption before the stake.

Move the probability in both directions. A small apparent edge that disappears under a modest change deserves closer research and conservative sizing.

Use the no vig and Kelly calculators to understand market margin and sizing assumptions. Neither validates the probability you enter.

What does positive expected value mean?
Positive expected value means the average modeled profit is above zero under your probability estimate and the offered payout. It depends on the estimate being well founded and on costs being included.
Where does the probability estimate come from?
You supply it. TurbineFi does not validate your estimate in this demonstration or claim that the entered probability is an accurate forecast.
Is this a live +EV scanner?
No. This is a local educational calculation using inputs you can change. It does not retrieve bookmaker odds, rank live picks, or run a prediction model.
Can a positive EV bet still lose?
Yes. Expected value averages possible results; an individual position can lose its full stake. Correlation and estimation errors also affect a portfolio of positions.
Are fees included?
No. The demonstration excludes commissions, spreads, fees, taxes, and execution costs. Those costs reduce the expected result and can remove a small modeled edge.
What can I use without a subscription?
The expected value, implied probability, no vig, and Kelly calculators are free educational tools. Sports app access is separate and depends on your plan.
